Sneak Peek

Review

Baida fuses the science fiction and supernatural thriller, its genres from a very ambitious angle. The film's concept has been awesome asking questions about Time Travel, Reality and the unknown. Ram is well played by Sudhanshu Rai; the character going through a whirlwind of confusion and determination. Manisha Rai is a good grounding, followed by Shobhit Sujay and Sourabh Raaj Jain making the film really eerie tone. Tarun Khanna and Hiten Tejwani show their presence though with small roles that adds a lot.

The execution of the film overall has been panned somewhat. There are, however; critics saying that the concept is cool but the narrative is just not fast enough, some elements felt underwritten. Still as if the film slews between the supernatural (cliched, straight out of an old horror movie) and intricate plot India Today has lauded that it builds pace as they get into conflict.

Moreover, the mixing of black magic and scientific query (though it was interesting) did not allow the narrative to breath with a lot more impact.

Conclusion

“baida” steps into the unexplored territory of fusing science fiction with supernatural in Indian diaphanous. Although the premise and performances in the film make for a refreshing experience, its execution may not work on most audience. Time travel, dark forces and experimental narration for those looking into experimental storytelling beyond conventional narratives, "Baida" is an anticipated ride. Nevertheless, thriller lovers looking for something slick and cohesive might be disappointed with the pace of the movie.
